Property Projects

Just a little catch up on our life at the Walter's compound. Gene retired in July of this year and not too soon either, because the State has decided to cut back on employees and inmates services. California is low on money and the first plug to pull is anything to help prison inmates. We agree.

Gene couldn't set still for a minute and so we started on the repair of the roof on the main house. That was quite an undertaking as it is 4,500 sq ft. Gene thought he could do all the work himself but after tearing a portion of the roof he decided he was 71 yrs old after all. I promptly called the High Priest Group men to seek a little service. Boy did they come out in droves. Gene is always the one to call if anyone in the ward needs help and the men reciprocated. It felt good to know we have such good friends as well as family members who pitched in also.

The roof was removed and then we replaced the old shakes, which were 40 years old, with new heavy concrete tile. Gene and family members pitched in and finished that job. Even Rachel, our youngest daughter, thought she could out work the boys, and she did. Included are some pictures we took of this process.

  1. I didn't wear anybody out. I got so sick, yet dad at his age drinks nothing but Pepsi and does just fine. Absurd!
