24 Jan 2012 Stugart -Schloss Solitude

TOWN OF STUTTGART

SCHLOSS SOLITUDE

This morning after a not so good night sleep, we took out our trusty schloss finder to see if there was anything interesting to see in Stuttgart. We found the Schloss Solitude. It was built as a hunting lodge in 1764 under Duke Karl of Wurtenburg. It is really not a castle, but a Rococo Palace, designed to be a place of quiet and solitude, thus the name. It was used as a school for many years but was fully restored in the 1980's by the Federal Republic of Germany. It was beautiful even though it was during the winter time. No matter which side you were looking at, the design was amazing.
