Juni 16, 2010 On the job in Bad Homberg

We are so excited, this is Gene's dream job. He is helping to run the warehouse that houses and distributes anything that the church sends to the Stakes and Wards for it's members throughout Europe. It is like the Salt Lake distribution center only for Europe. Gene is running a fork lift and processing orders as well as shipping of these materials. He says he feels so good when he goes home at night, worked but happy.

I am in the Customer service office with 4 other Women. We process all the church magazines subscriptions in Europe. Everyone in the office speaks at least two languages. One sister is from Chili and she speaks German, Spanish and English. The other is from Holland and she also speaks French. As for me, I am barely speaking English. It is good for me to hear German everyday. I also work part of the time in processing and sending out all Family History films. I enter all the order's that the Family History Libraries send in from the European areas.

As you can see from all the flags in the office, they are gung hoe for the World Cup. Tomorrow everyone is allowed to take their lunch hour during the time the German's play. Fussball is a very big deal here. It is another name for soccer as you know. All the girls in the office have their country flags above there desks. The sister from Chili is so excited for her country to play.
It's really not our bag, but as they say when in Germany do as the German's do, except for the drinking beer part.

All these workers are employed by the church. Did you know anyone who works here has to have a Temple recommend, so as you can see, there are a lot of great people that we are working with. Each morning we start with a prayer and a spiritual thought. I gave it this morning, it was on ""feeling the spirit. "

We are the only Senior Missionaries here. They are so happy to have us. They have given us a car and we are trying to learn how to use a GPS system. You can get lost in Germany without it.
They want us to move to Friedrichsdorf where the Temple is. They have apartments there and it is beautiful. It would be nice to get out of the big city, the traffic is terrible and their road rules are so different from the U.S. The place where we work is not far from the Temple. It would be really nice to be that close. Gene and I could start serving in the temple a few nights a week.

Well, we are going to the Temple tomorrow night with the Senior couples and after wards to a Chinese restaurant. This week end we are going to take a trip some where new, it will be a surprize. Tschuss

  1. Wow, that looks like a great calling. So you now have a car. What kind did you get? Did you get a Mercedes? A Porsche? A BMW? Also, I don't see a US flag over your desk. You know that they've qualified and are playing in the World Cup. They play again tomorrow (Friday). And, when it's time for Gene to give the Spiritual Thought, let me know what he does. Please update us on your new address. I got an email from Bruce Boston and he may be visiting Germany soon and mentioned that he'd like to stop by and see you. Anyway, enjoy your new location and continue taking such great pictures. Tchussle, Richard
