19-21 April 2011 Hanover Stake Genealogy Conference

We didn't have much of a rest after returning to Frankfurt, because we had to get booklets ready to give out to the upcoming Genealogy Conference for the Youth of the Hanover Stake. The Friedrichsdorf Temple is the closest one to them, so the Stake gets a bus and they make a three day trip of it to do baptisms for the dead. There is always a big turn out for this as they are able get together with other youth and enjoy a service project and a dance as well as do some work for their own families by doing baptisms. They had about 58 youth attending and they performed the baptisms in a two hour block. In between that time we give them a seminar on searching their family history and getting signed up to do Family Indexing.

We as the Family Search Support office for Europe have a goal of teaching all the youth within that area this most valuable work. They were all very attentive during the lecture and they were so excited when they were able to enter their family names, submit them to the temple and then to actually do the baptisms for them. Elder Bednar of the Quorum of the twelve is really pushing for the Youth to do Indexing everywhere in the world. I hope our Stake is doing this project, if not, we will sure be pushing it when we get home. Elder Bednar said this generation is well equipped to do this work with their computer skills and time on their hands. They need to learn to give service to others, and what better way to do that and how easy, you don't even have to leave your own house, as long as you have a computer you can work on it, even off line. I know the Youth will know what I am talking about.

I took a lot of pictures of those attending our classes and a few of the temple grounds. It was a wonderful time for us working with them and their enthusiasm for the Lord's work. Home at 5:00 PM and time to rest.
