22 Jul 2011 EFY Blaubeuren

As soon as we put the girls on the plane we took off for our next assignment, the Especially For Youth (English speaking) Conference. I remember all the kids back in the States wanting to go to EFY in Salt Lake City. Then they started having them in San Diego, but I never went to any of them. Now we are part of it in Europe.

The young people here really look forward to these activities. They came from all over Europe. If they spoke any language other than German, they came on this date. They were here for a week with lots of activities. Our Family History lecture was considered a Service Project. So what would you have picked? A 2 hour lecture on doing family history or 2 hours landscaping. Our two sessions were jammed packed. We presented two classes. One on new.familysearch and familysearch.indexing. We got them registered and away they went. After the two sessions, I took my camera to see if I could find other interesting things they were doing. Some groups were writing their testimonies in Books of Mormon to give out and some were putting together Preparedness Kits. That evening they had each group put on a musical number to thank all the counselors that were there helping to make this conference possible. The American group who were kids of Military personnel stationed in Germany, did a really great job, lots of dancing and singing. I was really proud of them. Two thumbs up for the good old USA. See how much fun these kids are having? A note to all the youth in Vista, hope you went to EFY this year, or if it hasn't happened yet, be sure and go. Lots of kids get their testimonies there.

We were all packed and ready to go by 4:00 which gave us some time to walk through this cute little town and have some dinner before going to our hotel room. The reason Gene is covering his ears is because this church was next to our hotel room and every hour, I mean for 24 hours a day, the bells ring. Needless to say we did not get a good nights sleep in Blaubeuren.
