28-29 Jul 2011- EFY Blaubueren & Dinkelsbuhl

YOUTH AT EFY (GERMAN SPEAKING)

DINKELSBUHL (Swabish Town)

Rested for two days and back on the road for another EFY Conference, only this time it was for German speaking only. Since we left a day early to get to our hotel and rest up a little before going to the Conference, we were told that we just had to see a small town about 50 Km before reaching Blaubeuren, so we did as we were told and how delighted we were.

Dinkelsbuhl is a small town on the Romantishes Road. It is located in the Bavarian part of Germany. It was founded before 1000 AD. Once a year they celebrate Kinderzeche to commemorate the surrender of the city to Swedish troops. This was because they were spared. The legend tells that a teenage girl saw the approaching troops and gathered all the children to meet them and beg for their lives. Just so happens the General had just lost a son and so he was overcome with their trustworthiness of them that he spared the entire city. This was also the town in which the film, "The Wonderful World of the Brother's Grimm (1962) was filmed.

The town is completely encircled with medieval walls, four towers and it looks like a typical 15th Century German town. It has a wonderful flavor all of its own because it is a settlement in the Swabian part of Germany which is in the South Western part in Bavarian, Germany. By the way it is in this area that mine and Brother Walters ancestors come from. We just recently found that out. Our families lived not far from each other. The town is awesome and so colorful. I just could not take enough pictures of this place.

Then on to find our Hotel, which by the way, was in another town called Merklingen. Thank goodness we would not be listening to the bells all night again. The next morning we set up for our conference at 9:30 AM. We had a big attendance and it looks like the Youth are getting the spirit of Elijah and taking it home to their parents, which is our plan. We feel that this work should be directed at the youth because they are the ones who are in good health with energy, catch on fast, are computer literate and have time to do it. The only thing that the older generation has is time so both should be doing it.

Went home that night completely satisfied that we had completed another bit of service for the Lord.
