Spent part of the day with the Palmer's where Judy took a lot of her time teaching me how to use the Picasso program in cropping my pictures. I have been put in charge of doing the Year End Report for the Family History Department and I needed to be able to attach a lot of the pictures that we took during the year. Thanks to Judy all my pictures were the same size and I was able to slip them right into the document. I was so grateful for her help. While we were at their house, the Three Wise Men came to their door. For a small contribution they had a blessing given to the their house. Then a number is placed on the front door to be untouched until the next year when you get another blessing. This is the way the Catholic church receives donations to help out with their projects in the community. We were glad to give them a few euros. Then we ordered a huge pizza and everyone had a fun time talking.

The next day we hooked up with the Palmers and went to Limburg An Der Lahn. We have been here many times but each time we are awe struck by the beautiful half timbered buildings here. We were told that Limburg was saved from the Ravages of WWII. Nothing here needed to be destroyed I guess. Thank goodness we are able to see a town in its original state. The town itself developed around the castle of the same name originally built in the 1600's.

In 1344, a plague killed many people and the town went into decline until the 1800's, when the Duchy of Nassau gave a new lease of life to Limburg. Some of the half timbered homes date back to the 1200's, but most were built in the 17th & 18th centuries. The town has many houses painted white with the red & black framework. It gives the town a cheerful appearance as most of my photos show.

The St George Cathedral or Limburger Dom was built in the late Romanesque architecture in 1200. It has a twin towers facade which is typical for this Rhineland area. We walked all around the town and decided on a restaurant that Gene and I have gone to many times. It is the Tonne. Same name as our Friends in Vista. Maybe they have family here in this area. The restaurant is very old and has the best food. The Palmers both had the Romalden, Gene had the Steak and I had fish. Everything was delicious. We all had to use the bathroom just to see how it was decorated. You can look at the photos to see what I mean.

Off to home early so we could get up for church and a missionary fireside the next day.
