10 Juli 2010 Trip down the Rhine with J & M

Woke up early today, We rode the zug from Bad Vilbel to Wiesbaden and then had to catch a bus from there to Rudesheim. The 2 hour trip turned into a 4 hour no air conditioning trip. It was terrible. When we got to Rudesheim we only had an hour to look around Rudesheim and then rush to make it for a boat cruise to St Gohr. We were exhausted by the time we got on the boat. We roasted until we decided to go underneath and sit in the lounge. Little did we know that if we nursed a drink for 1 hour, we could have a bird's eye view of the river and the castles along the hills. I guess the Orientals had more sense that we did. We recupped from sun stroke and arrived in St. Gohr. We shopped in Rudesheim for a while, had an eis which you wouldn't believe. Maz and I had a Kiwi sundae with lots of fresh Kiwi, which was delightful with all the heat, and Jenna had spaghetti eis. It is a big hit in Germany. The eis is vanilla which is made to look like spaghetti and then mashed strawberries on top to look like marenera sauce and shaved white chocolate to look like cheese. It really looked yummy. We arrived in St Gohr and the girls had a short time to tour the castle because we got there so late, but they loved it. They were supposed to take the tram back down but they missed it and had to walk all the way back. I know how far that was, because I did it before, plus walk up to the castle. So no whining youngsters. When they got back we met them for dinner and looked around the clock shop. Outside in front is the largest working coo coo clock in the world. Back on the zug and a 3 hour trip home. No wonder the girls would rather stay home. We were exhausted but had some good memories.
