Juli 3 & 4, 2010 Noise and more noise

Late Saturday we took a short drive to Hanau. That is a place I would love to live in. I think it is mainly a rich man's town. More houses than apartments and it is built right on the Main River. Only had time to take a few pictures but we will get back to that town soon.

On the way back home we heard so much noise and figured out that Germany must have won their game. They won over Argentina 4-0 so the whole town and probably all of Germany were celebrating. Had to take some pictures so you could get the feeling for how Germans feel about the game.

Sunday we got up and went to church but on our way home all the roads were blocked because they were having the Ironman European Championships 2010. If you are not up on this event, it is a big thing for the truly fit man or woman. Every year on July 4th it is hosted here in Germany and it just so happens that the cycling course goes right through Bad Vilbel. Germany is hoping by hosting this event, they will be considered for the 2012 Olympics. Here are the stats. There are over 2,300 entries. They have to swim 3.8 K, bike 180K and run 42.2K. That sounds hard to me. Anyway, we had to park pretty far from our home and hike in. It will not be cleared until 10:00 tonight. Oh yes and don't forget the fog horns all night, just like yesterday when Germany won. Looking forward to tomorrow. Maz will be here with her girlfriend Jenna.
