28 May 2011 Bautzen & Gorlitz

We were on our way, our objective, Gorlitz, but what to our surprise, we discovered a beautiful little town called Bautzen. This was not even on our agenda, but we are so glad we found it. We walked through the town which was hosting a Kinder Heute (Kids Day). It was alot of fun but the best surprise of all was when we went over the bridge which crossed the River Elbe, one of the three largest rivers in Europe.

I took pictures of the Alte Wasserhunt (Which is their castle) and the Michael Kirche. This is the second time we have seen bales of hay decorated as people. Remember the last time it was a Priest and a nun. I thought this was darling.

This is the town of Gorlitz, where the then Apostle Monson met with the saints after the War and he saw the terrible conditions that they were in. He prophesied to them that if they were faithful, they would would have every blessing that any other faithful member of the church would have (which would include freedom of religion and a temple). He went back to his hotel room that night and knelt down to ask Heavenly Father how that could be possible? but he got a confirmation that his prophesy would come true. Even before the Berlin Wall came down they were allowed to build a temple in Freiberg. Nothing is impossible to the Lord, when he want things done, they get done, in his own time and in his own way. I took a few pictures of Gorlitz.

Back to the hotel room for another good nights sleep, but no way did that happen. The bed was hard as a rock, the only consolation was a big deep bath to soak in. One day left so we packed up and followed the yellow brick road to three places of interest. See our next blog for two beautiful Schlosses.
