May 6, 2010 ZoCo in Dusseldorf

(Dad asleep on way to ZoCo, flax fields, Sisters, 2nd from left gave me the hug, Pres Ninow)

Up at 5:00 this morning to drive to Dusseldorf a town North of Frankfurt. It is a 3 hour drive so we saw lots of the countryside. The Auto Bahn is not at fast as I thought. It is like our freeways, packed and slow, but I guess it is less congested as you get further out of town and you can go as fast as you like to. The lanes are so narrow for the small cars, but when the trucks are beside you it is scary.

The Zone Conference here was also a great success, as you can see, we have to have three ZoCo because the area is so big. There are 6 sisters serving here and they are having great success. One sister ran up to me and hugged me so tight. She was crying so I asked her, "Do you miss your mom?" she said no, so I said, "Do you miss your grandma?" she said no, and then she proceeded to tell me that she just loves it when the couples are here. She comes from a family of 14 children and she left home at 12 to go live with her sister. I asked her how her mom and dad were able to support her on her mission and she said her brothers and sisters do. That was so amazing to hear that. Actually we are the only couple here, the rest are single sisters or they work in the area mission which doesn't have much to do with the Missionaries.

Dusseldorf is allot of open forested area, very beautiful. Not able to take any real pictures, we are always driving in the car and no time to stop. Saturday we will be going on a field trip so we should get some pictures then.

  1. Gene,
How can you be sleeping? Don't you see the beautiful countryside? You're in Germany!!! Look around and take it all in!!! Wow, these pictures really bring back some great memories. I love the architecture of the houses and the forests, etc.

  2. Gene is sleeping because he still has jet lag. Thez say it takes a little while to get back to normal. Plus we had to get up at 4:00 AM to get to Dusseldorf on time for the ZoCo. After a while you do get use to the beauty and start taking it for granted.
